It had been anticipated that artwork by students in Portland’s Kelly Elementary Russian Immersion Program would be, as in year’s past, exhibited at an Sister Cities Children’s Art Exhibit as part of Khabarovsk’s annual Day of the City celebration…but the invitation to participate from the Khabarovsk International Relations Department was not forthcoming in 2024 due (we assume) to a deterioration in relations between the Russian Federation and the United States over the war in Ukraine. Be that as it may, we want to acknowledge the students and their teacher Elena Gregerson for the heartfelt and creative artwork along the theme of “International Peace and Friendship Through the Eyes of Children”.
